Dear Delegates, 

 

It is with great pleasure and honor that I invite you to the Clermont-Ferrand Model United Nations international conference (ClerMUN) organized by The Ensemble Scolaire International Massillon and the Ecole Bilingue Internationale. It will be held from November 8-10th 2021. 

Last spring, our very first edition face-to-face took place despite unforeseen difficulties due to the pandemic of Covid-19. Today, I am proud to announce that our second conference is becoming international with English, French and bilingual committees !

 

For this edition, we have chosen the theme of "Mobilities" because its issues cover all areas, be they economical, industrial, environmental, social, urban or health. When mobilities promote sustainable development, they contribute to human progress and therefore to build our future such as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere. For example, in the 1960s, our societies introduced the model of individual cars. Henceforth, environmental issues question this model and sustainable mobility seems to be a solution. What used to be progress must be rethought to adapt to the current situation.

 

In order to address the different areas of this theme, ClerMUN has 5 committees including  the Security Council and the Human Rights Council, as well as the World Health Organization, the UN Refugees Agency and the Conference on Trade and Development.

By taking part in our MUN, you will have the opportunity to develop your critical skills, your eloquence, your ability to work in a team, and also the pleasure of sharing unforgettable memories and developing new friendships. I hope that our conference will motivate you to become an actor of your future.

Finally, I will quote Kofi Annan, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations :
